Ethics in the Practice of Counseling
Continuing Education
This workshop will provide a total three NBCC approved contact hours of continuing education credit. This meets half of the ethics CEU requirements for counselors. It will provide 1.5 play therapy approved hours. Additional information about CEUs can be found in the brochure.

Dr. Paul Hard, LPC, SC, NCC is the current Chair of the American Counseling Association’s
Southern Region, an Assistant Professor with Auburn Montgomery, a member of the Alabama
Board of Examiners in Counseling, a member of the Alabama Safe-
Dr. Rebecca Jacobson is an Associate Professor at Troy University, Montgomery campus where she has been teaching for 9 years. She has continued her education with a focus on Play Therapy and Grief Management. In the past she has served as a Mental Health Unit Director and currently has a small counseling practice called Creative Interventions Counseling. She is involved in the Community working with the Family Guidance Center as a marriage educator teaching the Smart Steps for Step Families program.
Synopsis
Being familiar with and upholding ethical standards are key components to providing quality mental health care to children, families and individuals whether it be through play and/or
traditional therapy.
This two part workshop will focus on ethics in the practice of counseling related to record keeping, informed consents, releases and how ethical standards apply to step and blended families. It meets three of the six hours of ethics training required by counselors.
