Lisa Elliott is the President of AAPT.  She is a 2003 graduate of the University of Alabama and received a Master of Arts in Community Agency Counseling with a specialization in Play Therapy.  Ms. Elliott is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor and Registered Play Therapist.  She is currently the Assistant Clinical Director at Family Guidance Center of Alabama in Montgomery and primarily works with children, adolescents and families.   Ms. Elliott's special focus areas of practice include Autism Spectrum Disorders and Filial Play Therapy and she frequently presents locally on these topics.

Carol is the secretary for AAPT. Carol is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Counseling Supervisor who has been in the private practice of counseling for 14 years in Dothan.  Previously, she was a teacher of French at the elementary, high school, and college levels for 15 years.  She works with individuals, couples and families, but especially enjoys working with children and adolescents and their families in play therapy.  Special areas of interest include working with individuals impacted by trauma.  She holds a Master of Arts in French/Secondary Education from the University of Alabama and has completed post-graduate work in counseling and psychology from Troy University in Dothan.

Eidele Sainker

Eidele Sainker is the current treasurer.  She is a Nationally Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Nationally Certified School Psychologist and a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She has been in private practice since 1983. A founding Board member of the National Children's Advocacy Center, she is actively involved in treatment of child sexual abuse and related disorders.  Eidele also works with children, adolescents and adults in individual, family and group therapy, including two teen therapy groups and short term social skills groups for younger children.

Julie A. Kastanakis is one of our Members-At-Large. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice for the last 24 years.  She has worked for several corporations, agencies and practices in Georgia, Florida and Alabama.  Ms. Kastanakis has previously worked at the National Children's Advocacy Center as a therapist and trainer, providing training programs throughout the United States, and representing them on national television in a CBS News, 48 Hours Investigates series.  She also developed programs and opened an outpatient clinic for Three Springs Inc. while working as their Clinical Services Coordinator & Clinic Director.  Ms. Kastanakis continues to provide local and regional training, and has written articles for several publications such as  Growing Up magazine.  She currently has a private practice here in Huntsville and also works as a guidance counselor at Weatherly Elementary School for Huntsville City Schools.

Kim Brindley is the past president of AAPT.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor.  She received post- graduate training at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia in their Creative Arts Therapy program.  Kim has worked in a range of mental health settings, including group homes, inpatient psychiatric services, outpatient private practice, student counseling, and therapeutic foster care.  She worked for the innovative Children's Harbor Family Center at Children's Harbor for almost 10 years.  Her work there focused on developing programs and counseling to enhance strength and resiliency of children and families with chronic illness and other conditions.  Kim enjoys presenting on a range of issues and her current focus is on private practice supervision for those pursing their license in counseling and registry in play therapy.

Kathryn Blackwell

Kathryn Blackwell is the assistant secretary of AAPT. She graduated from Purdue University, in West Lafayette, IN with a bachelors and masters in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school for 21 years before receiving her second masters in counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She began her career as a school counselor in 2001. Play Therapy is the main focus of her school counseling program, especially sandtray therapy. In 2007, Kathryn received her Educational Specialist degree in counseling also from UAB. She is an Associate Licensed Counselor nearing the completion of the Licensed Professional Counselor credential as well as her registered play therapist credential. In addition Kathryn works with adult perpetrators of domestic violence and adolescents who have been sentenced to an alternative school placement.
