Hello and welcome!

We are glad you found YOUR newly designed AAPT web site! We are so excited about being in contact with you and hope you have an opportunity to browse the site and give us feedback.  We want your new AAPT site to be a source of support and information.

Last year Sharon McGee, our Continuing Education Coordinator, offered to assume the task of developing a new web site. Sharon has fervently attended to all the minute details of this process in order to enhance your browsing experience with us and provide more information about play therapy to others.  We greatly appreciate Sharon's dedication, endless energy, expertise, and patience making this web site a reality.  Thank you Sharon!

During the process of compiling our history for the web site it was both remarkable and inspirational to see how AAPT was created, how it grew and the progress that has brought us to this new and exiting place in our history.  Through leadership and foresight, Karla Carmichael, Ph.D. pioneered the establishment of the Alabama branch of APT and she has faithfully nurtured this organization throughout its years.  She has remained steadfast in keeping AAPT alive and strong.  We appreciate her leadership.

Significant others, as noted in our history section, have also contributed to the richness of this organization.   I greatly appreciate Terry Bowen's expertise and support as Past President in helping me prepare for this honorable opportunity to serve all of you in the role of President.  I welcome your comments, ideas and any other input you have about how to help promote play therapy.  I am passionate about how play therapy can facilitate strengthening of children, adults, and families.

Lisa Elliott, President Elect, is busily preparing for our upcoming conference featuring Liana Lowenstein.   We are excited about bringing her back to Alabama and know this conference will be informative and inspiring.  Register today online and watch for the brochures which will be coming to you soon.

We hope all of you will participate more in AAPT, through our committees, starting a networking group, organizing a regional work and or considering serving on the board.  No experience is required; however a willingness to help promote play therapy is greatly appreciated!  Please feel free to contact me if you would be interested in any of these opportunities.  Hope to see you June 6th!

Playfully,

Kim
